All,

welcome to the community of people concerned with how to share medical operations information.  Events around the world, regardless of country, require that we effectively share medical information in the middle of fast moving, life saving actions.  The HL7 (Health Level 7) community is doing wonderful work establishing standards and approaches for sharing electronic health record (EHR) information.  Now may of us are on a quest to sort out lessons learned for sharing medical operations information.  What do you think?  What are the kinds of events that you worry about professionally or personally that require sharing of medical operations information?  How can we best share information about the medical capabilities in a region, across boundaries, in a way that is effective?   Do you think that some of the FEMA work gets us headed in the right direction with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) in the US?  How about the work Relief Web has done on sharing information around international humanitarian assistance mission?  We want to hear from you.  What do you think?  Have you seen how Twitter is being used by some police departments?
